UroGenesys Announces Appointment of Chief Financial Officer Santa Monica, Calif., May 7, 2001 - UroGenesys, Inc. announced today that Paul G. Kanan has joined the Company as Vice President of Operations and Chief Financial Officer. Mr. Kanan has served as President and CEO of Pacific Biometrics, a company developing non-invasive diagnostic products, since 1993. "We are most pleased to add Paul Kanan to the UroGenesys executive team", said Donald B. Rice, President and CEO. "His extensive business experience in health care, ranging across therapeutics and diagnostics, with service in financial, marketing and general management functions, will significantly strengthen our management capabilities at a critical juncture in the Company's development." Previously, Mr. Kanan co-founded CEO Advisors, Inc., a healthcare consulting firm and served as its President from 1991-1993. From 1988-1991, he was CEO of Oncotech Inc., a specialty laboratory providing tumor drug testing for cancer patients. From 1976-1988, at Baxter Healthcare Corporation, he served in a variety of positions in Finance, Strategy, and Marketing, culminating in President of the Chemotherapy Service Division. Mr. Kanan received a B.S. in Engineering from the University of Michigan and an MBA from Harvard University.
